Meliá Hotels Announces New Hotels in Dubai and Marrakesh
Meliá Hotels International has just announced, during the main tourism fair of the Arab market (the ATM of Dubai), two new hotels that will open throughout this year in the United Arab Emirates and Morocco.
The first one is the Desert Palm Dubai hotel, an exclusive urban oasis only 20 minutes from the city centre. The hotel has 38 spacious rooms, suites and villas, as well as a wide range of dining and wellness facilities and a horse riding school and first-class polo field. The Desert Palm Polo Club, with four polo fields, is the very best polo estate in the region, helping reinforce the position of Dubai on the international polo circuit.
The hotel will create a new benchmark for serene sophistication in the splendid and somewhat frenetic city of Dubai. Just a short distance from the most popular tourist attractions, the resort will seamlessly combine classic Spanish elegance – of which the Meliá brand is one of the finest ambassadors – with an oasis of uncompromising excellence and luxury. Meliá Hotels International, a global leading resort group, has a successful and long track record in managing luxury boutique hotels worldwide, such as the Meliá Colbert, Meliá Champs Elysées or Meliá Vendome in Paris, or the Meliá Campione and Meliá Villa Capri in Italy, among others.
This agreement has been possible thanks to the excellent relationship of Meliá Hotels International with the hotel owner, Albwardy Investment Group, with whom the Spanish company already operates three other hotels in Tanzania and Argentina.
For Gabriel Escarrer, Executive Vice President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, “taking over operations at this exclusive Dubai resort makes us very proud and also gives us a chance to demonstrate our proven excellence in the management of luxury urban resorts in a market to which the company is already firmly committed”.
On the other hand, Meliá has also announced an agreement to add the Sol Marrakesh, the fifth hotel for the group in Morocco, which will operate under the brand Sol by Meliá, the family-friendly holiday resort brand.
Located in the popular area of Palmaraie, the Sol Marrakesh enjoys a privileged location, 18 kilometres from the airport and only 9 kilometres from the centre of Marrakesh. The well-known resort, which first opened its doors in 1988, is currently closed for total refurbishment to adapt it to the latest standards of the Sol brand, and it will
open later this year.
Sol Marrakesh will offer 211 rooms (including 25 family units) and 6 hectares of indoor and outdoor space in which to relax or enjoy a wide range of leisure facilities. Upon completion, the services will include a spa with hammam, fitness facilities, four tennis courts, a volleyball court, a soccer pitch, golf practice area and a spectacular swimming pool with a sundeck. With its own nightclub, a theatre and two bars, Sol Marrakesh will be an ideal destination for fantastic holidays. For visitors travelling with the family, Sol Marrakesh will also offer a Kids Club specially designed for children where they can enjoy play areas and activities.
